CT's AuditPay® System
AuditPay® Provides shippers with a pre-audit and accurate payment of freight bills. Client freight rates are updated online in the CT FreitRater® software system resulting in invoices that are analyzed and paid based on the most current rates available.
Common terms and definitions used during the AuditPay® process are listed below.
- Air Transport - The commercial enterprise of moving goods and materials.
- Barge - The cargo-carrying vehicle used primarily by inland water carriers.
- Bulk - (Commerce) to place, hold, or transport (several cargoes of goods) in bulk.
- Customs Brokerage - This is a profession that involves the "clearing" of goods through customs barriers for importers and exporters (usually businesses). This involves the preparation of documents and/or electronic submissions, the calculation and payment of taxes, duties and excises, and facilitating communication between government authorities and importers and exporters.
- Couriers/Messenger - A fast door-to-door service for high-valued goods and documents; firms usually limit service to shipments of 50 or less.
- Flat Bed - An open truck bed or trailer with no sides, used to carry large objects such as heavy machinery, cars, or houses.

- Intermodal - The process of involving two or more different modes of transportation in conveying goods.
- International - Charges for freight being shipped between countries.
- LCL - A quantity of freight less that that required for the application of a container rate when shipping over seas.
- LTL - A quantity of freight less than that required for the application of a truckload rate, usually less than 10,000 pounds. These smaller loads are consolidated by an LTL carrier into one vehicle headed for multiple destinations.
